Northwest Indiana has a wonderful balance between growth and familiarity. You can have a beautiful new home and still find a local coffee shop where the barista knows your order. You can spend Saturday morning walking around a downtown square and Saturday afternoon at the lake. You can have a large backyard and still be close to restaurants, shopping, and entertainment. You can live somewhere that feels peaceful without feeling isolated. That balance is becoming increasingly valuable. And it’s one of the reasons I believe buyers should be paying attention to this area. Is Now the Right Time to Buy? This is where I always encourage buyers to look beyond headlines. There will probably never be a perfect moment to buy a home. Interest rates change. Inventory changes. Prices change. Life changes.

What matters more is whether the home, location, and financial decision make sense for you.

The Northwest Indiana market in 2026 is giving buyers a little more breathing room than the most intense years of the pandemic-era market, but desirable homes are still attracting attention.

Crown Point, for example, remains competitive, with Redfin reporting a median sale price of about $330,000 through May 2026 and year-over-year appreciation of 11.2%. (Redfin)

In other words, waiting for the market to become dramatically cheaper may not be the strategy some buyers are hoping for.
